Forbes ranks Centre No. 13 in the nation. Centre College has been named the No. 13 best institution in the nation among colleges and universities in first-ever rankings by Forbes magazine. Centre also ranks No. 12 on its "Top Private Colleges" list and is among the magazine's list of "30 College Ranking Surprises." The rankings include 569 undergraduate institutions. Full story.

Little Richard and hit Broadway musical Movin' Out among headline acts for 2008-09 season at Centre's Norton Center for the Arts. The 2008-09 schedule for Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts showcases the best talent from the sound studio and the stage. Tony Bennett, Al Green, the Beach Boys, and Little Richard headline the list of musical artists performing this season, while theatrical favorites such as Altar Boyz, Movin' Out, Annie, and Ain't Misbehavin' are sure to delight audiences of all ages. Centre goes green with electric golf carts. Centre College recently purchased seven EZ-Go brand electric golf carts for use by the facilities management and public safety departments. Wayne King, director of facilities management, initiated the project. "We're always trying to be as energy efficient as possible, and with increasing gas prices, we were spending about $120 per month for each of the mini-vans and small pickups we use for service vehicles," he says. King located a dealer in Lawrenceburg, Ky., that sells the electric carts that are coming off lease from golf courses. With new seats­ that double as flatbeds, electric lights and a warranty, the carts average less than $3,000 apiece.
"So far everyone has been pleased with them. We only have to charge them once a week, and so far we've gotten great service," King says. Full story.

Three student life staff members promoted to associate deans. Three members of Centre College's Office of Student Life staff recently were promoted to the position of associate dean. "Sarah, Patrick and Megan are dedicated to making the Centre student experience the best it can be," says Randy Hays, vice president and dean of student life. "The College looks forward to their continuing contributions to the campus community in the coming years." Full story.
